TREATY

How to make the vegetable stone or quintessence from the green plants, seeds, roots etc, from which the water of the clouds is distilled .

Now we are going to learn a new method of distilling plants, from which cloud water is distilled first . In this we include all kinds of plants from which water is first drawn from the clouds. (The correct way to distill is to heat the plant solution and the vapor comes over and is cooled by cold running water, then the vapor becomes brandy or alcohol which is flammable).

Because, during this operation and in the instructions relative to this one, one will understand all that one can make green plants and roots. After which the teaching will relate to all the dry species , gums, wood and all that is dry, each thing with the instructions concerning it .

Chapter I

First my child you must know that we intend to make the vegetable stone from the green plants, from which the water of the clouds is distilled . Chapter II

So my child, you must collect the plants when they are mature and the seed begins to form or ripen . For all plants come to seed and sometimes flower at the same time . This is why you should collect the plants when most have seed, even if some of them are still in flower and have not yet seeded. Collect them with the leaves, flowers, roots, seeds, on a clear day when the sun is shining brightest. Clean them without washing them or adding moisture to your haste . Chapter IV

My child, you may ask why not grind the plants. Know that if the herbs were crushed, part of the 3 spirits would fly away, namely, the green color, part of their flavor or taste , and part of their natural heat since the 3 spirits are volatile they cannot withstand grinding or crushing . That's why you would largely lose. And then your work would be wasted because you would be working on a dead body which would have been deprived of its soul and its life since the plant is mortified by its crushing.

Try this: grind a plant very finely in a mortar. It will quickly lose its green color and natural moisture while the whole house is full of the smell of the plant you have crushed . Scent, however, does not grow long when the nature of the plant has been broken . It is mortified so that it is as if it were detached from Nature and from the celestial influence which increases its fragrance . Neither the sky nor the starsthe webs that bestow or spread their influence upon her cannot help her any longer, because she has been utterly and therefore cannot receive help any longer from any side . Consequently , the volatile spirits which are her life, her soul and her quintessence leave her. Chapter V

Now back to our work. You have to rub everything that is left on a stone. Gather everything in a large pot (the faeces + the distillate ) and (place) the latter in a lukewarm bath . Pour over its own water (the unused distilla ) and stir well with a wooden spoon. Then place a small piece of glass over the opening and leave for 2 days and 2 nights. Stir well every 4 or 5 hours so that the water can draw out the elements well .

At the end of the second day, remove the pot from the bath and set it aside . Let it sit for 3 or 4 days. Then separate the liquid (in a clean pot) from the faeces . It is golden water . Cap it and keep it well. After that for more water on the faces and stir well. It would be good to dry the faeces before pouring the water on them. Now place them again in the bath for 2 days and 2 nights. Stir again and cover.Then let everything cool.

Do as before for the water over the first water in the pot.

Take some water again and pour it over the faeces . Do this as long as the faeces color the water. So you've got the M and N of the earth, and you've done quite a bit of "washing". But if it happens that you do not have enough water, you must take the ordinary distilled bath water 2 or 3 times , it is certain that for all vegetable works distillation is good when there is no faeces left . This is valid for all green plants.

However, one cannot distill or make extractions of dry herbs with water, but only with distilled "Aceto " . So when the water has been well distilled from the plants , take care of it, enjoy it well and extract the elements with ordinary water.

Chapter VI

Chapter VII

My child, you must know that for all things in the world, if you draw their water from them by distillation in the dryness until they crumble into dust and grind them and bring them to a boil, and then rub them finely on a stone and pour over them the water drawn from them or any other distilled water and put them in the bath , the water draws , P M and the N element areas . It turns red and that color is contained deep within the greenness that the plant had. Chapter VIII

Now let's resume our work. When you find no more faeces at the bottom of the jars, you must pour all the liquids together into a stone jar. Place it in a bath and distill the water but not completely so that you can pour the faeces into a glass vessel; otherwise (if you wanted to distill all the water) you would have to break the pot. Then place the ship in a container with sand above the basin filled with water. Let the water boil and the material will evaporate until it is dry . Chapter IX

They cannot be drawn from the earth by any other method in the world, since the above-mentioned 3 spirits dwell in a natural warmth and heat like August , color and smell.

These 3 (spirits) cannot stand the heat coming from the fire. If one wanted by distillation to extract P , M and N , it would have to be done by means of heat and dryness, ashes and sand. However , these 4 elements are in the body , for example, fire, air , water and elemental earth mixed with the stinky faeces . Also understand, my child, what these three spirits are, since if you do not know these three spirits and their nature, you will not be able to progress either in the vegetable kingdom, nor in the animal kingdom, nor in the mineral kingdom , but you will be treating a dead body . Chapter X

Now back to our work. We take all the faeces that have remained in the pot and into the clarified ( settled ) water where there are also some faeces . Place them in a large earthen retort well glazed outside , as I have taught in the work of wine . Place it in a stove so that fire and flames can come all around. Place at the beak of the retort a stone pot almost full of distilled water e, fight it in a watertight way . Start with a small fire, increase it gradually every 3 hours, for 24 hours, until the retorte is warm all around. Leave it like this for 6 hours. During this time the oil and the sal ammonia will pass. Let it cool.

Now move the retorte and pour everything into a well - enamelled earthen pot . Let stand for 3 or 4 days.

Now the fuel oil should float above. Move it carefully as dexterously as possible. Place the liquid in a large pot of earth and keep it that way until you have to rectify it by solving coagula. Take the fuel oil and place it in a small vessel that I talked about in the wine work. Pour boiling distilled water over it and start shaking as if you were making butter. This has been explained in the work of wine, where fuel oil is purified from sal ammonia . eration .

When the oil is purified , place it in a clean glass. Use it. It serves for all pains that come from cold and damp, to anoint all crippled limbs and in paralysis. After that take the water in which the fuel oil was purified and the water from which it was removed ( skimmed ) . Place the whole in the bath to coagulate it and to let the faeces settle and be able to be extracted by filtration, as has been taught .é in the work of wine, to rectify the sal ammonia. When your sal ammonia is well rectified and very dry , as white as snow, keep it in a dry place.

Chapter XI

After that take all the faeces which remained in the retort and also those of the rectification. Put them together in the street fire as it was taught in the work of wine, until they become white as snow. So rectify them again with distilled water by pouring the water over them and let it sit. Then let the faeces fall to the bottom, filter them out and coagulate them again . Do as it wastaught in the work of wine, until your land is white as snow .

Now take the white earth and dissolve it in your rectified water . Place your sal ammonia in the same water, and draw the water out until it is dry to the point of dust . Then place it in the egg to calcine it in the secret furnace and do as above. When everything has been calcined , dissolve it in your rectified water . Let the faeces fall to the bottom, remove them by filtration, coagulate and do as before until no more faeces remain . After that coagulate your water, fire, air andearthelementary . _ So you have rectified your mass of exterior and interior faeces and also your sal ammonia . They are now prepared to draw the Vegetal Stone from them .

Chapter XII

After that take a large receptacle as it was said in the work of wine. Put inside your elemental sal ammonia, water, air, fire and earth with their three spirits . For on it some rectified water that has been drawn from them, so that it can dissolve properly and no more . Place them in a crucible with sifted ashes .are. Cover the glass (the crucible?) with a small piece of glass with a weight on it. For 22 days, give him warmth like the sun in midsummer .

Let it cool, place them in the egg and place them in a crucible in sieved ashes . Let them evaporate with gentle heat until everything is dry, which you can check with a knife placed in the hole. Chapter XIII

When the stone is dry , melt it and pour it into a small glass mould. Thus your stone is ready to coagulate the mercury into fine gold.
